The UConn women’s basketball team pulled off a statement victory on Sunday, taking down reigning national champion South Carolina in a stunning 87-58 road win.
Led by Azzi Fudd’s explosive third-quarter performance, the No. 7 Huskies snapped South Carolina’s 71-game home winning streak, handing the Gamecocks their worst home loss since 2008—also against UConn.
Despite a slow start, Fudd caught fire in the second half, draining shot after shot and leaving the packed crowd at Colonial Life Arena in disbelief. UConn’s dominant performance not only marked its biggest win of the season but also ended a four-game losing streak against their modern-day rivals.
